Job Description:

As a SQL Server Developer, you will create and implement functional and actionable business intelligence solutions using programming, performance tuning and data modeling, based on SQL database design and implementation standards, source business application database design and implementation standards, corporate policies, industry best practices, and customer-based business requirements. You will assist with the on-going support, new development and expansion of our corporate SQL Server Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence platform and will be working with our Market Research and BI teams in support of enterprise analytics and machine learning initiatives. Knowledge with transact SQL, stored procedures and SSIS as well as visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is essential to the position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop or improve data warehouses, ETL packages, multi-dimensional OLAP cubes, data mining models, performance dashboards, operational lists and reports
  • BI Integration - Oversee the implementation of integrations required for high quality and reliable data to be available for reporting from the data-warehouse and/or source business applications
  • Lead all aspects of assigned reporting and analytics including report setup, scheduling, documentation, changes and modifications of reports
  • Design & Implement Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) solutions including SSIS & DTS programming based on SQL database design and implementation standards
  • Apply data mining rules
  • Undertake analysis of systems, business processes, data and interfaces to tackle business problems
  • Work with business analysts and stakeholders to ensure we are providing effective solutions
  • Produce concise and meaningful functional and technical documentation
  • Provide prototypes for initiatives as needed
  • Educating internal users about best practices for accessing data and building customized dashboards.
  • Set up, maintain, and update recurring custom reports to be delivered on-time and error-free.
  • Establish and implement quality assurance processes for new reports
  • Operate in the time-sensitive environment with competing deadlines, potentially within an Agile framework
  • Demonstrate initiative and independence

Reqired Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of relational and multi-dimensional database architectures
  • Strong SQL skills  with an ability to write comprehensive, well-tuned SQL queries, in addition to creating complex stored procedures and functions
  • Solid ETL skills using SSIS for high performance data loading
  • Advanced data visualization  especially in Power BI, Tableau or SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Knowledge on working with web application portals
  • Strong analytical skills to support independent and effective decisions
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under time constraints
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive working relationship with others
  • Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
